On clear days it is possible to see the sulfur and water vapor clouds that come out of its caldera. Today the activity scale has changed from moderate to moderate-high, since the Geophysic Institut from the National Politechnical School has registered more than 107 tremors and tow long term events.
This last sunday there were more long term events and vapor emissions that reached up to 1,000 over the volcano's caldera.
All the tourism activities at the volcano and Cotopaxi National Park are normal.

Yesterday a group of canadian tourists and myself were walking throught the Old Town of Quito, and as we climbed up to one of the towers at the Basilica, we noticed that the roofs are beeing finally waterproofed, and concrete is beeing restored.
It has been more than 70 years since the first cement was used to bind stones, and was poored in columns, and the weather has been since then slowly affecting it.
It is a great effort of the city of Quito to preserve ist monuments, it costs a lot of money every year, but must be done.
